Shamrock Rovers have confirmed that Richie Towell has signed for the club and will be available to play for the league leaders in July.
The former Dundalk midfielder, who won the league twice at Oriel Park in 2014 and 2015, has spent the last two seasons at Manchester club Salford City in League 2.
Towell signed for Brighton after a successful three-season stint at Dundalk, which included being named the league's player of the year in 2015.
Having made just one league appearance for the first team at the English south coast club, Towell moved on loan to Rotterham and helped the Millers win promotion to the Championship in 2018.
The 29-year-old will join up with the Hoops later in the summer to spend a few weeks with his new team-mates before he is eligible to play in July.
