Shane Long's move to Bournemouth is off to a rocky start after the Championship club sacked their manager, less than 36 hours after Long joined the club.
The Republic of Ireland striker completed a deadline day move to the Vitality Stadium as the club sought to bring some experience and maturity to their front line.
However just as Long is settling into his new surroundings, news came through this morning that he will not play for the manager who brought him to the club after Jason Tindall was sacked.
Tindall leaves after only seven months following a poor run of form, the Championship club said in a statement.
Tindall, 43, was named permanent boss on a three-year-deal in August to succeed Eddie Howe, who left following the club's relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2019-20 season.
A club statement read: "AFC Bournemouth have today parted company with manager Jason Tindall.
"It is a decision which has not been taken lightly, given Jason's outstanding commitment to the club as a player, assistant manager and manager.
"However, recent performances and results have fallen well below the board's expectations.
"We feel a change is needed now in order to give the club the best possible chance of achieving the goals that were clearly set out last summer."
Bournemouth are currently sixth in the Championship table, 13 points behind leaders Norwich
