Former Sligo Rovers boss Steve Cotterill, currently in charge of Shrewsbury Town, is recovering in hospital after spending time in intensive care with Covid-19.
Cotterill's assistant Aaron Wilbraham gave an update on Cotterill's condition ahead of Shrewsbury's FA Cup third-round tie at Southampton on Tuesday.
"Steve has been in intensive care and it has been quite worrying," Wilbraham said of the 56-year-old.
"It has been an emotional weekend, but I have spoken to him in last couple of days, and he's starting to get better.
"He has been cracking a few jokes so I know he's improving. It's a relief."
Cotterill started his managerial career at the Bit O'Red back in 1995 before joining his hometown club Cheltenham Town two years later. He's also had spells with Stoke City, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City.
Shrewsbury are 17th in League One.
