As part of a series looking at former League of Ireland clubs, RTÉ Sunday Sport reporter Mike McCartney looks at the history of Home Farm FC, 1975 FAI Cup champions and historic Irish football nursery.
Founded in 1928 by Don Seery and Brendan Menton Snr, the club is most famous for its' youth arm and its role in developing some of Ireland's finest players, including Jackie Carey, Liam Whelan, Liam Brady, Ronnie Whelan and Richard Dunne.
The club participated in the League of Ireland between 1972 and 1999 - under the guise of Home Farm Everton from 1995 and '99.
Their greatest achievement as a League of Ireland club arrived when they unexpectedly won the FAI Cup in 1975, stunning Shelbourne 1-0 in the final.
The report features interviews with club chairman Eamonn Mahon, famed past player Paddy Mulligan and lifelong supporter and former player Brendan Dixon.
