Ex-Bray Wanderers defender Shane Flynn has travelled to Ukraine with Leicester City for their Europa League clash against Zorya Luhansk on Thursday night.

The 19-year-old Dubliner, who can also operate in a more advanced position on the left, moved to the Foxes in 2018.

He's been playing for the club's development side in the Premier League 2, helping them to a 2-1 win against West Ham last week.

"Having the likes of Ricky [Ricardo Pereira], Demarai [Gray] and Slim [Islam Slimani] in there to help us out was brilliant," Flynn told the club website afterwards.

"The info Demarai was passing on to me, just simple bits, it's a great experience, little nuggets to take into future games as well.

"It's something you dream of doing, playing with these lads, be it them coming back from injury and playing in the under 23s or at a higher level, hopefully to play in the first team, just any sort of experience you get."

Flynn will hope to get his first taste of first-team action tomorrow night, with Leicester looking to seal top spot in Group G having already qualified for the knockout stages.

Clubs are permitted to name up to 12 players on the bench in Europe so at the very least he should get some matchday experience as a squad player.

He's one of seven under 23s players Brendan Rodgers has brought to Ukraine.
