Championship wrap: O'Dowda to fore as Bristol go third

Callum O'Dowda was central to both of Bristol City's goals as they beat QPR 2-1 at Loftus Road to rise to third in the Sky Bet Championship.

Rob Dickie had put the hosts in front with a first half header but goals either side of half-time at Nahki Wells and Adam Nagy gave victory to the visiting side.

O'Dowda's deflected cross teed up the first goal for Bristol and he pounced on a defensive error to lay on the winner for Nagy five minutes into the second half.

Alan Browne and Sean Maguire both featured (the latter being withdrawn just in injury-time) as Preston ended Bournemouth's unbeaten home record with a deserved 3-2 win at the Vitality Stadium.

Tom Barkhuizen gave Alex Neil's men the lead early in the first half before Scott Sinclair delivered a moment of magic with a 40-yard lob to double their advantage.

Patrick Bauer's 68th-minute goal rendered Junior Stanislas' brilliant free-kick and Sam Surridge's first Bournemouth league goal no more than consolation efforts for the hosts.

Wayne Rooney suffered more frustration when Derby were denied victory by a stoppage-time goal which earned Coventry a late 1-1 Championship draw at Pride Park.

Colin Kazim-Richards' first goal for Derby looked to have given Rooney victory in his second match as interim manager but Gustavo Hamer fired home from the edge of the area to give Coventry a deserved point.

Cardiff manager Neil Harris hailed striker Kieffer Moore after his brace ended their wait for back-to-back Championship victories.

The Wales international now has four goals in his last four matches after guiding his side to their second win in four days with a 3-0 defeat of Huddersfield.

Substitute Robert Glatzel completed the performance with a late strike but Moore received the plaudits after the match.

Cauley Woodrow went from villain to hero and bagged an early birthday present as he paved the way for Barnsley's 2-1 win at Birmingham.

The striker - who turns 26 on Wednesday - equalised with a penalty in the 71st minute to make up for two first-half misses, before Callum Styles grabbed the winning goal in the 84th minute.

Before that, it looked like Scott Hogan's 56th-minute strike might give the Blues their first win in six games, ending a run of 326 minutes without a goal in open play.

Brentford climbed into the playoff spots with a 2-0 win away at Rotherham, second half goals from Marcus Forss and a late penalty from top scorer Ivan Toney seeing them to victory.
