Waterford have registered a complaint to the FAI in relation to the eligibility of Finn Harps defender Shane McEleney to play in Monday night's crucial Airtricity League Premier Division clash in Ballybofey.
Harps won the game 1-0 thanks to a first-half Adam Foley strike, the result ensuring their safety and condemning Shelbourne to a promotion/relegation play-off against Longford Town.

It also meant that Waterford missed out on fourth place, which could yet be enough to earn a European spot if one of the top three - Shamrock Rovers, Bohs or Dundalk - go on to win the FAI Cup.
In fact, had the Blues got three points in Donegal, they would have finished third, given the Lilywhites were beaten by Sligo Rovers in their last league fixture.
McEleney got his fifth yellow card of the season in Harps' defeat of St Pat's on Wednesday 28 October.
He'd normally have served his resultant one-match ban on the week beginning Monday, 9 November.
However, the final round of league fixtures were pushed back a day to facilitate the playing of Shamrock Rovers' Covid-19-delayed game with Derry City, and so the FAI's disciplinary committee made the decision to move the 'effective from' date for suspensions to Tuesday, 10 November.
In a statement on Thursday, Waterford said: "Waterford FC can confirm that a complaint has been registered with the FAI regarding our Monday night fixture away to Finn Harps. The matter is with our legal team and no further statement will be made on the matter at this time."
