New Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton has strengthened the Irish connection at the club by adding Steven Reid and Nick Colgan to his backroom team.

Hughton, a former Republic of Ireland defender, will be assisted by fellow former Irish internationals Reid and Colgan as first team and goalkeeping coaches respectively.

Reid will combine his role with his current position as a coach on Scotland's senior management team, while Colgan has made the switch from Wigan Athletic.

Hughton was appointed Forest manager in early October, replacing Sabri Lamouchi after a poor start to the Championship season had left them third from bottom following four defeats from four.

The two-time former European Cup winners had missed out on the play-offs on the final day of last season's Championship campaign.

Hughton's first game in charge will be away at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
