Shelbourne took a giant leap towards safety in this year's SSE Airtricity Premier Division as Ryan Brennan struck late in a 1-0 win over Waterford at the RSC.
Brennan scored in the 84th in a game filled with chances as Ian Morris’ side moved five points clear of Finn Harps who currently occupy the promotion/relegation play-off position
Former Republic of Ireland international Daryl Murphy came off the bench for his first appearance for his hometown club in 15 years. He came closest to an equaliser, as his turn and volley went just over the crossbar.

The defeat for Fran Rockett’s side opens up the race for a top four finish, with six sides separated by just four points in the middle of the table as it stands.
