The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division fixture between St Patrick's Athletic and Dundalk has been postponed after a player from the Inchicore club tested positive for Covid-19.
It is the second game to be called off in the league in 24 hours after Galway United's clash with Drogheda United was postponed due to two cases within the Tribesmen squad.
The entire St Pat's first-team squad and staff are now restricting their movements and awaiting tests, following HSE and government guidelines.
It presents a significant problem for the Football Association of Ireland and the Lilywhites as Filippo Giovagnoli's side already have a packed fixture schedule and there is no obvious date to reschedule the game within the current season.
Dundalk have a match every three days between Tuesday's game with Cork City and the final night of the regular season on 1 November.
A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course according to the FAI.
If the league can't be extended, the Lilywhites could end up playing four matches within a week.
