Leicester have completed the signing of Wesley Fofana from St Etienne on a five-year deal.
The 19-year-old defender joins for an initial €35m (£32m) ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.
It ends the Foxes' interest in James Tarkowski after they had a bid worth over £30m rejected for the Burnley centre-back last month.
Fofana made his debut for AS Saint-Étienne against Nice in May 2019 and has since gone on to feature a further 25 times in all competitions for Les Verts, impressing with a string of accomplished performances in defence.
Those displays have also brought recognition at international level, with Fofana being named in France's Under-21s squad for this month’s Euro Qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Slovakia.
"I’m very happy to be here. I’ve watched Leicester City closely since they won the title and they’re a top club in the Premier League.," he said.
"I know I will learn a lot from the players and the manager here, which is one of the main reasons I came. I can’t wait to get started."
