Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign United States World Cup winner Alex Morgan on a one-year deal.

The 31-year-old striker will join Spurs, subject to obtaining a visa, for the 2020-21 Women's Super League campaign, the London club have announced.

Morgan has earned 169 caps for the US and was a member of the side that won consecutive World Cups in 2015 and 2019.

The news is another coup for the WSL after a recent influx of world-leading talent into the competition.

Morgan follows fellow US internationals Sam Mewis, Rose Lavelle (both Manchester City), Tobin Heath and Christen Press (Manchester United) into the English game.

She is well remembered in England for a goal celebration in which she pretended to drink a cup of tea after scoring against Phil Neville's Lionesses in the 2019 World Cup semi-finals.
