The top of the table clash between Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians fixed for 5 September will not be postponed despite the presence of players from both teams in an upcoming Ireland U-21 training camp.

Neil Farrugia and Liam Scales are part of U-21 boss Jim Crawford's plans for an upcoming training camp in Northern Ireland, while Bohemians also have Danny Grant and Danny Mandroiu involved.

Reports earlier today said the derby match would be postponed.

However the FAI have told RTÉ Sport that the game will go ahead as planned.

All four players should be able to feature in the league encounter.

The Ireland Under-21s were due to face Slovenia in a friendly in the first week of September but the match was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Crawford has instead arranged a training camp in advance of the qualifiers against Italy, Iceland and Luxembourg in October and November.

As a result of Dundalk's dramatic slump in form in recent weeks, along with Bohemians' impressive run of results, the perception has naturally emerged that the 2020 title race is now a two-way battle between the traditional Dublin rivals.

Just two points separate the duo at the top of the table and the meeting in Tallaght Stadium has been billed as a critical fixture in the title race.
