Waterford FC's club doctor Sinead Fitzpatrick has resigned from her position.

Waterford suspended all activity on Tuesday after a second player at the club reported Covid-19 symptoms.

No explanation has been given by the club for her departure, or whether it is linked to the suspected Covid-19 cases.

The Blues' scheduled Premier Divison game against Sligo Rovers on Tuesday was postponed when it emerged Monday that a player at the club was undergoing testing after reporting symptoms.

A second player has now also reported symptoms as the club awaits the result of both tests.

An FAI statement said that the player had reported suspected Covid-19 symptoms to the club on Tuesday morning and had not been involved with the first team for their league win at Shelbourne last Saturday.

John Sheridan's side are due to host bottom of the table Cork City at the RSC this Saturday.
