Exeter City and Northampton Town will meet in the League Two play-off final on 29 June after both sides came out on top in the second legs of their semi-finals against Colchester United and Cheltenham Town respectively.

Exeter saw off Colchester as Ryan Bowman's goal deep into extra-time sent the Grecians to Wembley with a 3-2 aggregate win, having trailed 1-0 from the first leg four days earlier.

Similarly, Northampton triumphed 3-2 on aggregate against Cheltenham after a 3-0 away victory in their second leg thanks to a second-half brace from Callum Morton which followed a ninth minute opener from Vadaine Oliver.

Exeter had also struck early in their game against Colchester, with Aaron Martin's sumptuous strike coming after just ten minutes of play.

They then went ahead in the tie when Jayden Richardson's effort squirmed through the body of Colchester goalkeeper Dean Gerken.

Colchester rallied and levelled it up once again through Courtney Senior 12 minutes from time and the team from Essex finished strongly with Johnny Maxted making a brilliant stop to deny Kwame Poku in stoppage time.

Both teams looked out on their feet as the game drifted through extra-time but in the 112th minute, Bowman sprung the offside trap to latch onto Archie Collins' pass and rifled a brilliant low shot into the bottom corner to send Exeter to Wembley for the third time in four years.
