St Patrick's Athletic have snapped up Scottish striker Martin Rennie from Montrose ahead of the new Airtricity League Premier Division campaign.

Rennie, 25, joins the Saints having impressed last season for Montrose where he scored 14 goals in the season.

"Martin is a player that we feel that in our environment can kick on again," head coach Stephen O'Donnell told the club website.

"He has a good goalscoring record in Scotland and we feel that he is joining us at a good age as his best years are ahead of him.

"He is one who is going to be a willing worker and give everything for the jersey, and that is the type of player that we want at St Pat's."

Derry City have also bolstered their attacking options with the acquisition of Norwegian centre-forward Tim Nilsen.

Nilsen most recently played for Fredrikstad FK in the third tier of Norwegian football, where he scored 32 goals in 53 appearances.

The 27-year-old also played for Swedish side Ljunskile and Russian outfir Khimki.

"He has a high pedigree in his past as a player," said boss Declan Devine.

Meanwhile Waterford FC have added Brentford midfielder Ali Coote  to the ranks.

The 21-year-old has been with the Bees since 2017.

"I'm delighted to be here," he said. "I’ve family connections to the city through my grandparents, so I know the place quite well.

"I’m really looking forward to getting into the training ground in the next few days and getting to properly meet all the lads. I’m lucky in that myself and Scott played together before, so it’s nice to walk into a club and know at least one face in the dressing room."
