UCD have named Andy Meyler as their new manager as the club prepares for life in the First Division in 2020.

Myler replaces Maciej Tarnogrodzki, who was put in charge following Collie O'Neill's departure last August. Ian Ryan will remain on as assistant manager.

The new man at the helm played for the Students in the mid-nineties and was on the side that achieved promotion to the Premier Division at the end of the 1994-95 season. Meyler also had spells at Athlone Town, Drogheda United, Longford Town, Bray Wanderers and Shamrock Rovers and bagged 131 goals during his senior career.

In management, the 43-year-old guided Shamrock Rovers to A League success in 2009 and an U20 title in 2010 before moving to the first team coaching staff with Michael O'Neill, where they qualified for the UEFA Europa League Group stages in 2011.

In recent years, Meyler has worked with UCD's Colleges and Universities League sides.
