Dermot Desmond is primed to secure a 25% share of Shamrock Rovers following a vote by the club's members.
The businessman looks set to invest €2m for a stake in the Dublin club after members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the proposal.
The deal, which should be finalised within the next few weeks, will see the members maintain a 50% stake, with Australia-based Rovers supporter Ray Wilson holding the remaining 25%.
The Hoops were reconstituted as a members club owned by fans in 2005 but changed to a hybrid model when Wilson took a one-quarter stake in the club in 2016.
