The Republic of Ireland under-17s couldn't have wished for a better start to their European Championship qualifying campaign as the beat Andorra 6-0 at Turner's Cross.

Robert Mahon opened the scoring, before an own goal and an Evan Ferguson brace had the points secured at the break.

Colin O'Brien's side picked up where they had left off, and Conor Conroy and Calum Kavanagh completed the scoring for them in front of 334 punters.

It means a victory against Montenegro on Friday night at the same venue will see Ireland advance to the elite qualifying round.
