Republic of Ireland midfielder Denise O'Sullivan will spend the National Women's Soccer League off-season in Australia after agreeing a short-term deal with Western Sydney Wanderers.

O'Sullivan helped North Carolina Courage to a second successive title on Sunday when they eased past Chicago Red Stars 4-0 at at WakeMed Soccer Park.

The 25-year-old Corkwoman was named the Courage's MVP for the second campaign in a row.

She has been in excellent form for her country too, shining in the Euro 2021 qualifier wins over Montenegro and Ukraine.

The season in America has just ended but they're only getting going Down Under - the campaign there runs from November to February. The National Women's Soccer League takes place from April to October.

O'Sullivan arrives at Wanderers as a 'guest player' along with two other Courage stars - Kristen Hamilton and Lynn Williams.

Last year she made a similar switch to Canberra United.
