Republic of Ireland star Denise O'Sullivan helped North Carolina Courage cruise past Chicago Red Stars on Sunday to seal the National Women's Soccer League title. 

The Courage swept past Chicago Red Stars 4-0 in the play-off final to retain the crown and spark wild celebrations.

Brazilian striker Debinha broke the deadlock after four minutes, with Jessica McDonald heading home in the 26h minute and Crystal Dunn making it three just before half-time.

Sam Mewis put the cherry on top in the 61st minute as the Courage closed the game out in front of 10,227 at WakeMed Soccer Park in North Carolina.

Two weeks ago the 25-year-old Corkwoman was named her clubs Most Valuable Player for the second campaign in a row.

She moved to the Courage from Houston Dash two years ago having made her name with Peamount United, Cork and Glasgoow Coity.

O'Sullivan has been terrific for her country in the early stages of their Euro 2021 qualification campaign. Vera Pauw's side have won their first two games in Group I and sit in second behind Germany.
