Anfield will host its first women's match with the staging of the Merseyside derby next month.

The Barclays FA Women's Super League fixture between Liverpool and Everton will kick-off at 3pm on Sunday 17 November and will be one of the highlights of the FA's Women's Football Weekend during the men's international break.

"This is an historic moment for women's football on Merseyside," said Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore.

"We're incredibly proud to have our women's team play their first league game at Anfield and for it to be a Merseyside derby against Everton makes it extra special."

Tickets will be sold for just £5 with free entry to under-16s to help boost the crowd.

"Everyone at Everton is looking forward to the game at Anfield. Any Merseyside derby means so much to fans of both clubs and this will be a big occasion for the teams," said Everton manager Willie Kirk.

"Hopefully we can build on the growing popularity of women's football, shown by some fantastic attendances at the Etihad, Stamford Bridge and the London Stadium, and put on a show."
