Republic of Ireland Under-21 manager Stephen Kenny has called up Ross County winger Simon Power for the upcoming qualifiers against Italy and Iceland.

Power, who is on loan at Ross County from Norwich City, has been drafted into the squad after Aaron Connolly's promotion to the senior squad.

The 21-year old has already made four appearances in Kenny's squad and he started in the 0-0 draw against Mexico in the Toulon Tournament.

The players reported for duty on Sunday and will train on Monday for the first time ahead of their qualifier against Italy at Tallaght Stadium on Thursday, 10 October, with kick-off at 8.05pm.

Featuring in a strong squad are Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, Troy Parrott, who recently made his Tottenham Hotspur debut, and Southampton striker Michael Obafemi.

UCD's Liam Scales and Dan Mandroiu of Bohemians are the League of Ireland's representatives in Kenny’s selection.

Connolly scored his first two goals for Brighton & Hove Albion in their Premier League win over Spurs on Saturday and was drafted into Mick McCarthy's senior set-up as an injury replacement for Portsmouth's Ronan Curtis.
