The top of the table clash between Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers has been scheduled for Monday, 23 September.

Rovers are looking to close a gap of seven points on the reigning champions, however, the Hoops are running out of games, and Dundalk are looking as strong as ever, as shown in their facile 2-0 victory over Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds on Monday night.

The Hoops have played a game more than Dundalk and by the time they meet, there will only be five matches remaining in this season's SSE Airtricity League Premier Division campaign.

The meeting of the top two will be shown live on RTE television with the game kicking off at 7.20pm.

Waterford's trip to Bohemians on 13 September and Dundalk's visit to the RSC in Waterford on 20 September are two other games that will be shown live on RTE2.
