Arsenal winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to move to Roma on a season-long loan deal.

The 30-year-old has struggled for form since joining the Gunners from Manchester United in an exchange deal with Alexis Sanchez - who has already departed for Inter Milan this summer.

Mkhitaryan came off the bench in Arsenal's 2-2 draw with north London rivals Tottenham on Sunday but now looks ready to leave the Emirates Stadium.

It is understood Roma will pay a loan fee as well as covering the Armenia international's wages for the duration of the loan.

Arsenal have been busy moving on fringe players in the last days of the European transfer window, with Nacho Monreal and Mohamed Elneny both leaving on Saturday, although it is believed that Shkodran Mustafi is set to stay put.

Mkhitaryan has scored nine goals in 56 appearances since joining Arsenal in January 2018 and is now set to join former Manchester United team-mate Chris Smalling in Rome after the England international joined on loan last week.
