Xherdan Shaqiri has made himself unavailable for the Switzerland squad ahead of their clash with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium next Thursday.
The two sides go head-to-head in their Euro 2020 Group D qualifier next Thursday as the Swiss look to close the gap at the top of the table.
Switzerland sit third in the group on four points from two games played, six points off leaders Ireland, albeit with two games in hand going into the vital Dublin encounter.
The visitors named their squad for the trip to Lansdowne Road and their home clash with Gibraltar the following Sunday, however, the Liverpool attacker has decided to concentrate on his club career.
"Xherdan Shaqiri, who has decided to concentrate fully on his club, will not be available," read a tweet from the Swiss Football Association, which accompanied the squad announcement.
Norwich City duo Josip Drmic and Timm Klose miss out due to injury, while Germany-based pair Djibril Sow and Steven Zuber are also ruled out of the upcoming games as they recover from their respective injuries.
Shaqiri has struggled for game time this season at the Anfield club and speculation continues about the Swiss international's future at the club.
He has started just one of the last 26 matches, and featured for just 142 minutes since he end of February - 89 of those coming in the 4-0 Champions League semi-final second leg comeback against Barcelona.
"Is he the happiest player in the squad at the moment? I don't think so. Can I see that on the training pitch? No," said manager Klopp ahead of this weekend's trip to Burnley where they will look to extend their 100 per cent record to four matches.
"He is in a good mood and training hard, doing what he has to do and is ready for the moment when he has to help the team on the pitch.
"In training, Shaq doesn't have to improve in any way if he can keep the level he is doing at the moment. It's not about that.
"Of course he can improve, everybody can improve, but he doesn't have to show anything special. And we will need him. He knows that 100 per cent."

Klose could be out for up to a year if the worst-case scenario with his knee injury is realised, according to his club, Norwich which means that the defender will also be ruled out of the return international fixture in Geneva next month.
Klose suffered the problem in the first half of the midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Crawley and scans have shown posterior cruciate ligament damage which could need surgery to repair.
It is a blow for the Swiss centre-back, who was making his first appearance of the season, and the full prognosis will be revealed after a second scan next week.
Boss Daniel Farke told the club's official website: "Timm Klose has had a scan but he will need another scan next week.
"He has ruptured his PCL [posterior cruciate ligament] and may need surgery. It's difficult to judge at the moment, and it depends a bit on the result of the re-scan. We are concerned with his meniscus.
"The best-case scenario is he will be out for four months. There's a danger there is something wrong with the meniscus, so the worst-case scenario from the doctors is nine to 12 months.
"Timm was unbelievably disappointed and it's important to let him be disappointed, 2019 hasn't been his year, he's had quite a few injuries.
