St Louis will join Major League Soccer in 2022.
The Missourian city will host the 28th MLS team, with David Beckham's Inter Miami CF and Nashville joining an existing 24-team league next season, followed by Austin FC in 2021.
The St Louis ownership group will see the club become the first female majority-owned franchise in MLS history.
Carolyn Kindle Betz, senior vice president of car rental giant Enterprise Holdings, is the leader of the group.
"It is with great pride that we welcome St Louis to Major League Soccer," MLS commissioner Don Garber said in a statement.
"St Louis is a city with a rich soccer tradition, and it is a market we have considered since the league's inception."
