Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley confirmed that Dan Carr was bound for Cypriot outfit Apollon Limassol after his team's 2-0 win over Derry City at the Ryan McBride Brandywell.
The Londoner joined Rovers at the beginning of the 2018 campaign and still had a year and a half left on his contract but Bradley said discussions with the player convinced them it was time for him to move on.
The Shamrock Rovers boss confirmed that terms have been agreed with Limassol, who recently knocked Bradley's team out of the Europa League after extra-time in the second leg.
"Dan will leave," Bradley said. "He's over there at the moment doing his medical. Everything is agreed our end and their end. So, medical dependent obviously, but it looks like Dan will be moving.
"We didn't have to move Dan. He had a year and a half left on his contract. We got a sounding from Dan's side and we didn't like what we heard so it was time for Dan to move.
"We're speaking to one or two (replacements) at the moment and hopefully we can get them over the line."
Second half goals from Aaron McEniff and Aaron Greene gave Shamrock Rovers an impressive victory in a testing venue against Derry, who are still chasing Bohemians in third spot.
"I thought we were full value for the win. I thought we controlled the game. The only real chance they had was the peno (saved by Alan Mannus). But I thought we were excellent from start to finish.
"I've said all along this group is growing and getting stronger and better. Coming to places like this and winning the way we have shows that But we need to keep going now. There's a big run-in and we need to keep picking up points."
