Shamrock Rovers' conquerors Apollon Limassol beat Austria Vienna 2-1 in Thursday night's Europa League third round qualifiers at the Generali Arena.

The two away goals could prove to be crucial if the Cypriot side are to advance to the knockout stages.

Norrköping, who overcame St Patrick's Athletic in the first qualifying round, drew 1-1 with Hapoel Be'er Sheva in Sweden.

Meanwhile, Rangers are in a good position to advance. Steven Gerrard's men beat Midtylland 4-2 in Denmark to take control of the tie. Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo, Nikola Katic, and Scott Arfield scored the goals for the Scottish visitors.

It wasn't such a good night for fellow Premiership side Aberdeen, who went down 2-0 to Rijeka of Croatia.

Elsewhere, there were wins for PSV Eindhoven, who beat Haugesund 1-0 in Norway, Torino, who comfortably overcame Shakhtyor Soligorsk 5-0, and for last year's semi-finalists Eintracht Frankfurt, who beat Vaduz by the same score.

Earlier this evening, Republic of Ireland international Matt Doherty scored to set Wolves on their way to a 4-0 win over Armenian side Pyunik.
