Republic of Ireland midfielder James McCarthy is set to join Crystal Palace after the club agreed an £8m fee with Everton.
The 28-year-old made just a single Premier League appearance last season as he returned from a broken leg suffered in January 2018.
His first team prospects at Goodison Park were not improved by the Toffees' summer spending spree, with Fabian Delph (Manchester City) and Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Mainz) adding to the central midfield ranks.
McCarthy was initially offered as part exchange for Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha, but the London club rejected that offer, according to Mail Online, and pursued the Ireland international separately.
The former Hamilton Academical player joined Everton in 2013 from Wigan Athletic for a fee of £13m.
