Kelleher savours 'best feeling I've ever had' after Champions League win

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher savoured the best feeling of his life after being part of the squad that beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 last night to win the Champions League.

The former Ringmahon Rangers goalkeeper was the third choice 'keeper and took his place on the bench as Mo Salah and Divock Origi scored to win a sixth European Cup for the Reds.

The 20-year-old struggled to put it into words.

He told RTÉ Sport:  "I can’t describe to be honest. I can’t put it into words. I don’t know what to say. I’m speechless.

"It was unbelievable. The team has worked so hard during the year. They have produced some unbelievable performances. This is the least they deserve. I was just delighted really.

"It was nerve-wracking to be honest. It was probably easier playing because you’re not as nervous. My heart was beating the whole time. Thankfully we got the win."

Salah’s opening goal put Jurgen Klopp’s men on the way to the victory.

The Cork goalkeeper hailed the goalscorers

"I was buzzing [after the first goal]. It was a great start to be fair. We did well throughout the game and defended well.

"'Div' came up with a great finish so we got the win.

"It was unbelievable. It’s once in a lifetime. I’ve never experienced that. It’s probably the best feeling I've ever had."

Kelleher has only tasted action in the development league in England but has made rapid progress to be part of the Liverpool squad.

After this momentous day in his career, he paid tribute to those that helped him on his way.

"I’ve got a lot of messages of support so thanks for all of that, especially my family and my girlfriend who have been there for me the whole time.

"I have a lot of thanks for them because without them I wouldn’t be here tonight. It’s all down to them really."
