Glenn Whelan has been released by Aston Villa despite helping them return to the Premier League earlier this week.
The 35-year-old is one of eight players who will not have their contract renewed at Villa Park.
He made 35 appearances this season in the Championship and is in the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Whelan didn't start the play-off final win over Derby County but was seen as a big influence in their long unbeaten run to secure the top-six finish.
Mile Jedinak, Alan Hutton, Tommy Elphick, Albert Adomah, Ritchie De Laet, Mark Bunn and Micah Richards have also been let go.
