Sport Ireland describe meeting with FIFA as 'very productive'

Sport Ireland have described a meeting with FIFA as "very productive" and said the world body is giving their "full support" to the governance group at the FAI.

A FIFA delegation met Sport Ireland representatives today after holding talks with the FAI last evening.

The governance group holds representatives from Sport Ireland, FAI interim chief executive Rea Walshe and board member Niamh O’Donoghue, along with incoming honourary treasurer Paul Cooke.

A Sport Ireland statement read: "Sport Ireland had a very productive meeting with representatives of FIFA this morning.

"The FIFA representatives received an update on the Governance Review Group, which has been established by Sport Ireland and the FAI. The FIFA representatives expressed their full support for the work of the Governance Group.

"It was agreed that FIFA will be kept fully updated on all matters relating to the work and output of the group."
