St Patrick’s Athletic have been awarded a UEFA Licence, and so will participate in the 2019-20 Europa League.

The Richmond Park club take the place of Waterford FC after last week's decision by UEFA not to allow the latter to compete in the upcoming qualifying rounds of the competition.

A club must be three years old to compete in European competition, and the Blues' management company was only formed in late 2016.

The Independent Club Licensing Committee of the FAI confirmed today that Dundalk (Champions League), Cork City and Shamrock Rovers have also been awarded licences to take part in European competition.
