In-form Christina Dring fizzed home a excellent half-volley in the 81st minute to settle a tight and cagey contest at Fairgreen, home of local junior side Fairview Rangers.
It's Cork's third victory in a row and leaves them a point off third-placed Shelbourne.
Shels fell to a 2-0 loss against table-toppers Peamount United on Saturday.
Aine O’Gorman and Karen Duggan gave Peamount a crucial three points and kept them ahead of Wexford Youths on goal difference, albeit with a game in hand.

Wexford Youths are not going to give up their league crown lightly and they sank Kilkenny United 2-0 to earn a fifth win out of six games. Rianna Jarrett and rising talent Blessing Kingsley wrapped it up for the hosts.
Meanwhile Galway were too strong for DLR Waves, easing to a 3-0 success at Eamonn Deacy Park thanks to goals from Chloe Singleton, Lynsey McKey and Aoife Thompson.
