Bohemians manager Keith Long believes that there should be people with 'passion' in positions of power within the FAI if the League of Ireland is to flourish.

Long was speaking after his side conceded a last-gasp goal to lose 1-0 to Dundalk at Oriel Park.

"There’s frustration on all sides, the whitewash that was the Oireachtas Committee, was probably a step too far for people," Long told RTÉ Sport.

"So you know we all want football in this country to progress, we want the League to flourish and we need people with a passion for this game in this country in positions of power that can try and move the game forward.

"I’m sure John Delaney has done lots of work in his tenure, I’m a football manager, I get paid to manage a football team so it’s difficult for me to comment on what direction Irish football should go in but certainly, at the forefront of any direction we take, should be the domestic game."

Bohemians are currently third in the League on 20 points, eight behind leaders Shamrock Rovers who have a played an extra game.
