James Collins has been voted Sky Bet League One Player of the Season ahead of Aiden McGeady.

Collins netted his 22nd goal of the season in the 2-2 draw with Blackpool on Saturday before being sent off for a second yellow card.

Luton are eight points clear at the top of League One with five games remaining.

"Obviously this is a really proud moment for me personally, it's been a great season so far both personally and for the team," Collins said.

"Massive credit to everyone at the club for the amazing run we've been on, it's given us confidence and to win this tonight really tops it off for me. I'm delighted."

Collins was recently called up to Mick McCarthy’s Republic of Ireland squad alongside McGeady, who has also enjoyed a terrific season in the English third tier.

The 33-year-old has bagged 14 goals in 35 matches for Sunderland.
