Robbie Keane will captain a Republic of Ireland XI squad for a fundraising game against a Liverpool Legends team in aid of the Sean Cox Rehabilitation Trust.

Some of the biggest names in football are set to feature in the game, which will take place at the Aviva Stadium on 12 April.

The proceeds from the exhibition tie will go towards the rehabilitation of the Irish man, who was the victim of an unprovoked attack outside Anfield last year.

Simone Mastrelli, the third Italian national to be convicted on charges relating to the incident, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail in England yesterday.

In addition to record goalscorer Keane, other former international stars like Damien Duff, Niall Quinn, and Ray Houghton have been included in the Ireland squad.

Current Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy will manage the side for the occasion.

Keane will play one half of the match with his country before representing his former club Liverpool in the second half, as will Phil Babb, Jason McAteer and John Aldridge.

Anfield legends including Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and Ian Rush have been named in the Liverpool squad.
