Newport County goalkeeper Joe Day swiftly left the pitch following his side's brilliant FA Cup victory over Middlesbrough amid reports his wife went into labour during the game.
A post on the FA Cup's official Twitter account read: "@NewportCounty goalkeeper Joe Day's wife has been close to giving birth to twins for days.
"Tonight, she went into labour during The Exiles' 2-0 win over @Boro.
"At the FT whistle, Joe raced straight down the tunnel to be with his wife.
"Good luck Joe and family!"
Day was flawless throughout a famous win for the League Two side at Rodney Parade. Goals from Padraig Amond and Robbie Willmott earned a deserved 2-0 win that set up a fifth-round tie against Manchester City.
Exiles boss Michael Flynn estimated that Newport will make £1m from this cup run, with more TV money against City to come.
