Shamrock Rovers midfielder Aaron Bolger has joined English Premier League outfit Cardiff City on loan with immediate effect, the Dublin club have confirmed.
The Ireland Under-19 international has been followed by several English clubs in recent times and had been linked with a move to Preston North End before Christmas.
Bolger is under contract at Rovers for this season and the club did not put a time-frame on his loan deal with Cardiff.
The midfielder has been named in Stephen Kenny's Ireland under-21 training camp, with the squad set to train at Abbotstown ahead of a game with Ireland Amateurs at Whitehall on Wednesday.
