The match officials who were involved in a serious road traffic incident while travelling to an Irish League game have been discharged from hospital, the NI Football League has announced in a statement.

Glentoran's Irish League match with Newry City was postponed on Friday night after the car in which all four officials were travelling in was involved in a crash. The incident is believed to have taken place in the Newry area.

It was reported at the time that one person was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, and the NI Football League has now confirmed that all the individuals involved in the crash have been released from hospital.

"The NI Football League can provide an update on the status of the match officials involved in Friday night’s postponed match," a statement read.

"Due to a road traffic incident involving the match officials who were travelling together to officiate Newry City v Glentoran at the Newry Showgrounds, the NI Football League took the decision to postpone the Danske Bank Premiership fixture.

"Three of the match officials were taken to hospital and underwent tests, however we are pleased to advise that all individuals subsequently were discharged and have returned home to their families.
