Dundalk have announced the signing of goalkeeper Aaron McCarey from Irish Premiership side Warrenpoint Town.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper spent five years at Molineux lining out on seven occasions for the midlands club. He also had loan spells with AFC Telford, Walsall, York City, Portsmouth and Bury.
His contract expired in the summer of 2016 and he moved north to Ross County in the Scottish Premiership before returning to Ireland.
McCarey is making his return to the League of Ireland having embarked on his senior career with Monaghan United in the First Division in 2009 and those performances earned him a move to England.
The 26 year-old has also represented Ireland at every age group up to under-21 and has a total of 24 caps. The Monaghan native was called into the senior international squad last March for a friendly against Turkey.
Speaking to dundalkfc.com after signing a two-year deal, McCarey said: "I am delighted to get the deal done. It has been in the making for a while the deal so it is great to get it over the line. It’s an absolute privilege to join the best team in Ireland.
"I am looking forward to joining the best team in Ireland and with the new season coming up it’s going to be very exciting. "
