Republic of Ireland fans will receive just 300 tickets for the opening game of the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign according to reports.

The Irish Times are reporting that Gibraltar plan to host the game on Saturday, 23 March, 2019 at their 2,300 capacity Victoria Stadium.

The last time Ireland faced Gibraltar away, the game was held at the 30,000-seater Estadio Algarve in Portugal meaning tickets were easy to come by for followers of the Boys in Green.

UEFA rules state that away fans must only be allocated a minimum of five per cent of the capacity and then the visiting team can request a further five per cent, which is at the discretion of the home association.

With this, Ireland fans are only likely to receive a few hundred.

"It’s only been two days and we have not really thought about tickets at this stage, but we have formally confirmed that the game will be here," said Steven Gonzalez, the Gibraltar FA’s communications officer, speaking to the Irish Times.

"We played all of our Nations League games in Gib and we are working towards playing all of our European qualifiers here too."
