"The majority have signed for next year and that keeps the ball rolling for next year," said Dundalk’s Robbie Benson, after the midfielder signed a new contract at the Oriel Park club.
The reigning SSE Airtricity League champions lost their manager last month, as Stephen Kenny was appointed to the Ireland Under-21 position, but Benson believes that the recent run of success at the County Louth club should continue in the former manager’s absence.
"You don't win a league and Cup double too often," said Benson.
"Some of the lads who were around in 2015 achieved it before and this was my first time doing it so it was great for me and for all of us.
"The players that are here and the style of football that we play will hopefully ensure that kind of success will continue."
Former UCD man Benson will play his fourth campaign throughout 2019 and will be looking to add to his tally of trophies since arriving at Dundalk, where he has won two league titles, the EA Sports Cup and the FAI Cup.
"The Athlone native played in five of Dundalk’s Europa League group stage matches and has made 17 European appearance, including that memorable wonder-goal in the Champions League qualifying round against Legia Warsaw, in the game that finished 1-1 in the Polish capital, but Dundalk lost 3-1 on aggregate.
Overall, the 26 year-old has made 117 appearances for the Club and has now penned a new one-year deal.
