Robbie Brady will make his first Premier League start since last December in Burnley's clash against Chelsea in Turf Moor in the lunch-time kick-off.
Brady hasn't started a competitive fixture since damaging his knee against Leicester City ten months ago.
He subsequently underwent surgery for a torn patella.
It was predicted he would be fit in time for the start of the new season and played in two of Burnley's pre-season encounters. However, a minor hamstring injury in a game against Montpellier slowed his progress.
He played for the U23 side late last month but missed the Republic of Ireland's three Nations League games against Wales, home and away, and Denmark.
He's not the only Irish international to begin the game with Jeff Hendrick starting in the middle. Defender Kevin Long has been named among the substitutes.
