Martina Cox, wife of Liverpool fan Sean Cox, who was assaulted before the Champions League semi-final against Roma last April, has revealed how her husband is recovering from the devastating attack.
"He is making progress, it’s small steps of progress," Martina Cox told RTE’s Late Late Show.
"He has a limited amount of words, very small amount, he can’t sit up. He can’t walk so it’s pretty horrendous really still, but he is making progress and it is small steps so we take every step as a positive because that is what we do when we are in this situation."

The Meath man was attacked outside Liverpool’s home ground of Anfield, he sustained head injuries that left him needing extensive treatment. He is currently in the care of the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire.
Roma fan Filippo Lombardi was jailed for three years on a charge of violent disorder in relation to the incident but was found not guilty of causing grievous bodily harm. Mrs Cox attended the trial.
"It was pretty heart-wrenching to hear the accounts of the three witnesses," she added.
