Wexford Youths captain Kylie Murphy has her eyes on a treble after sealing a fourth Continental Tyres Women's League title in five years at the weekend.

Youths secured the crown with a game to spare after overcoming Cork City 3-0 at Ferrycarrig Park.

Murphy told Soccer Republic Extra: "It was fantastic. Everyone is over the moon. To hold on to the title is harder. We are ecstatic over it. Winning the league gives us Champions League football so obviously that was what we set out from the start to achieve. That was the main aim. The league is what we strive for.

"It's everything [manager Tom Elmes] deserves. He has brought in a couple of good lads as well. They have been phenomenal with us. Their mannerisms are top notch, so professional. I don't think we could have got a better fit. We had a job to do last Saturday and we weren't going to come off the pitch until we did it."

Wexford face Peamount United in the FAI Cup final on Sunday week at the Aviva Stadium in a game that will be broadcast live by RTÉ Sport.

Peamount have won their last three matches and were the closest rival to Youths so it promises to be a showcase of women's football in the country.

"It's fantastic. It gets great coverage," Murphy said.

"Everybody is really excited to be involved, but on the other side of it, Peamount are not a team you mess with.

"They are very good and making serious strides. We're not thinking that because the league is won we can walk up and win this. There is a hell of a battle to come. It's time to get ourselves right. Hopefully come 4 November we'll be ready to go.

"To have the opportunity to do the treble would be fantastic. It would be surreal. But Peamount beat us in the League Cup only a few weeks back so we're not forgetting that. We have a lot of preparation to do before we think about that."

The build-up to the Cup final did not stop the Wexford players celebrating their league win.

Murphy concluded: "We had a good old blowout as a squad and management team together. You can't let those moments go by. We deserved it. We have one more hurdle to get over now."
