Dundalk boss Stephen Kenny hailed his Premier Division winners as they struck another "trademark" goal to seal the title.

While Cork’s stalemate with Shamrock Rovers would have handed the SSE Airtricity League crown back to the Louth side, Patrick Hoban’s late equaliser against St Patrick's Athletic lit up the Lilywhites' celebrations.

"It was very important," Kenny told RTÉ Sport, as Dundalk claimed the prize with three games left to play.

"It’s been a trademark that we have the ability to get late goals and Pat Hoban, in particular, has been outstanding this season.

"All big goals as well – he’s not getting the fifth goal in a 5-0 but the team has been magnificent.

"It wasn’t our best tonight but, listen, they’ve been brilliant all season."

"Credit to the players and the staff, they’re been really a credit to themselves, I’m so proud of them."
