It finished 3-1 to Bohs.

In form Bohemians maintained their recent impressive form to easily see off Derry City, to book their place in the FAI Cup semi-final.

Keith Long’s side ran out deserved winners at the Brandywell, as the home supporters booed at the final whistle, as their season effectively ended.

City, fresh from the EA Sports Cup success, missed a glorious chance to take an early lead as Aaron McEneff freed Ronan Hale down the right but his effort from an acute angle was pushed around the post by Bohs' keeper Shane Supple.

Moments later, Bohs danger man Daniel Kelly had a good chance after he latched onto Kevin McHattie’s slip, but from a tight angle the front man dragged his shot right across the six yard box.

Bohs took the lead on 43 minutes as Dan Casey headed home Kevin Devaney’s corner from the right wing, which was conceded by City centre-back Gavin Peers after he chested the ball behind despite not being under any pressure.

Dan Casey wheels away after scoring.

The visitors should have added a second on 53 minutes as Dinny Corcoran saw his close range volley superbly kept out by Doherty at full-stretch.

Keith Long’s side increased their lead just before the hour mark with another slick counter attack as Kelly fed Corcoran, who’s first touch was super and caught out the City back-line, before calmly slotting the ball home past Doherty.

Derry, in a rare attack forward, pulled a goal back as Jamie McDonagh right wing centre found Ally Roy, who fired home.Amazingly, that was the front man’s last touch, as he was replaced by Nicky Low, much to the frustration of the Derry fans.

Bohs should have ended the tie as a contest on 87 minutes on the counter-attack, as JJ Luney broke the offside trap before finding and Kelly, but he was denied by Doherty.

That miss should have came back to haunt the front man as Derry almost levelled proceedings minutes later. McDonagh’s teasing right wing cross found unmarked Aidy Delap, but the youngster saw his close range strike saved by Supple.

Deep into stoppage time the Dubliners booked their place in the last four when on the counter-attack, Kelly broke in behind the City back-line and although he was denied by Doherty, Corrcoran was on hand to side foot home the loose ball, to spark wild celebrations amongst the large travelling support.
