Former Manchester United player Paul Scholes returned to the football field yesterday when he lined out for Royton Town in the 11th tier of English football.
The 43-year-old, who won 11 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues during a decorated club career with the Red Devils, retired from professional football five years ago, but dusted down his boots for Royton’s fixture at Stockport Georgians.
Scholes stepped in to play for his son Arron’s team who were short of numbers for the game.
